DEIDRE SAYS:  IF you treat dating as a game, choosing tactics over genuine connection, you’ll never really get to know your date.

So many singletons get hung up on the “rules” and miss opportunities to properly communicate with potentially fantastic partners in the process.

Of course being overly keen can be off-putting but treating getting to know others as entertainment will only backfire.

Even if you don’t grow tired of meaningless encounters, dating by the playbook can be really hurtful, as you now know.

Far better to trust your instinct and spend time getting to know people around you.

For more information my support pack, Love Online, features plenty more advice.
