RTE star Amanda Byram has revealed the “nifty” camera tricks she used to keep her pregnancy a secret for nine months.
The TV star surprised her fans with the announcement she’d given birth to a baby boy earlier this month – and here’s how she kept it hidden.
Amanda, 51, announced the arrival of her second child with her TV producer husband Julian Okines back on Valentine’s Day.
The couple had previously been through an “exhausting” IVF journey before welcoming their first son Phoenix in 2021.
This time around, the couple decided to keep their second pregnancy a secret, with Amanda posting bump-free pictures of herself sunbathing right up until January 2024.
However, the popular presenter took to her Instagram yesterday to reveal how she did hide her baby bump from view in every snap, with a clever mix of camera angles, props and flowing dresses.
Amanda posted a selection of photos that she had shared over the past couple of months, which had gone undetected by followers.

Some photos showed Amanda either turning away from the camera or facing it full on, making her tummy harder to spot, and making use of the water distortion in the swimming pool.
In other images she disguised her bump under loose sundresses or strategically placed objects such as a spacehopper or even her own son, Phoenix.
Amanda penned: “The camera never lies… well, almost never! We chose to keep this pregnancy a secret, like our last one.
“It just felt safe and kept us in our bubble. So when it came to posting on Instagram, it called for some nifty camera angles by @julianokines.”
“The photos on the left were posted from our Christmas trips to @hotelsuitevillamaria and Fuerteventura; the photos on the right were taken seconds later, showing the whole truth! Instagram versus reality!”
Of course, followers and friends were all left stunned at the star’s cleverly conducted bump snaps as they took to the comment section.
Fellow RTE host Maia Dunphy wrote: “Just love these! I’d never have gotten away with this with my pregnancy bottom.”
Fiona said: “Love this. so nice to keep some things private and precious.”
Loraine Keane added: “The camera never lies ha! You look so beautiful, healthy and happy. Go girl.”
Vicky remarked: “It’s so lovely that you have kept this private between you and your close ones. A refreshing change from a world that over shares.”
While Michelle gushed: “You are the queen of pregnancy cover ups. Fab pics to have.”
