Mahama’s advisors thought I was too big for a Deputy Minister role – Adongo on snub

Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has indicated that he is reliably informed that persons who advise John Dramani Mahama on his appointment felt he is bigger than a Deputy Ministerial role.

However, he would have accepted the role if it was given to him by the President because he is always ready to serve in any capacity to ensure the government succeeds.

To him, pressure should not be put on the president to appoint him; rather, the president must be trusted to do what is best for the government.

The Bolgatanga Central Member of Parliament indicated his availability to serve in any capacity he is asked to serve in the current government.

“When it came to the Deputies part of the reason was also that there were elements who were advising the old man who believed that I’m above a Deputy Minister. That is not coming from me, and under no circumstance will I reject a Deputy Minister appointment. If it was offered to me, and that is the capacity the old man wanted me to serve, I would have accepted.

He continued, “if you are called upon by his excellency to serve in any capacity, it is a privilege that I will gladly accept, but under the circumstances he would have felt that he wants to use me in another way. Maybe there is a timing gap, people expect that by now your name would have been somewhere and it hasn’t happened, it doesn’t mean that is the end of the story.
