Don’t use power to settle personal scores – Duncan-Williams to Ministers

The General Overseer of Action Chapel International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, has cautioned government ministers against using their positions to settle personal scores, warning of grave implications for such actions.

Speaking during the President’s Fellowship with the Clergy at the Accra International Conference Centre on Friday, 28 February 2025, the revered cleric advised state officials to exercise their authority responsibly and avoid vindictiveness.

“And I want to admonish all the Ministers that sit in Council with Mr. President, don’t be vindictive, don’t pay evil for evil, don’t seek to settle scores with anybody and do not use the victory and glory of this President to settle scores with anyone because there are implications for that,” he stated.

Archbishop Duncan-Williams further praised President John Mahama for his humility and forgiving nature, recounting instances where the President had shown grace to those who had wronged him.

“Mr. President, you are that kind of example because I’ve watched you when you were in power before, even in the days when you were in Parliament, I watched your attitude,” he said.

He urged the President to maintain this approach, emphasising that leadership should be about service and unity rather than personal retribution.
