Devastated pal shares snap of ‘kind’ and ‘crazy’ Scot taken days before he was murdered in Kenya

This is thought to be one of the final pictures taken of a Scot before he was murdered in Kenya.

The happy snap shows “crazy bugger” Campbell Scott, 58, having fun with partner Simon Farrar.

Campbell Scott was murdered after he flew to Kenya on business[/caption]

It was taken on a night out in London at the start of this month just before he flew to Nairobi for a conference.

Almost a fortnight after the photo was taken Campbell’s mutilated body was found stuffed in a sack and dumped in a remote forest.

Friend Jason Benterman said: “My heart is broken beyond belief.

“What a truly funny, warm, kind crazy bugger you were. Gone far too soon. We send our heartfelt condolences to Si Farrar and the family.

“This picture was taken on 8th February. There you are, being the crazy bugger everyone loved.”

Tara Snell-Waldock added: That will be a night never forgotten. Going to miss my crazy loonpot.”

Other friends paid emotional tributes to Campbell, who was originally from Dunfermline, Fife.

Wayne Ferguson said: “I seriously can’t put into words how devastated I am.”

Jan McIntosh said: “Heartbroken. This World will be a sad place without you in it Campbell, such a kind, funny, caring man.

“You will always be in my heart. Healing Thoughts go out to Si.”

It’s thought Simon and Campbell lived together in Dunfermline, before they moved to London about a decade ago.

Old friends from Scotland also told of their shock when they discovered what had happened.

Daryl Murray said: “I can’t believe this horrific news.

“I went through Blacklaw Primary School & Woodmill High School with Campbell with us both being the same age.

“My heart goes out to all his family and friends. I am thinking about you all at this horrendous & extremely sad time.”

Lisa Innes said: “Can’t believe what I’m reading. Simon, I can’t stop thinking about you. “Campbell will be missed by everyone who knew him and his sense of humour.”

Paul Burgess added: “What absolutely awful news.

“ Campbell was a lovely man who I was pleased to call a friend for many years. He will be sadly missed by many people.”

Officials in Kenya were expected to carry out an autopsy on Campbell on Thursday.

It’s understood it had been postponed twice as they waited for his relatives to arrive from the UK.

Crowds gathered outside Makueni Referral Hospital as the procedure was carried out behind crime scene tape.

Local media said that Campbell’s murder has sent shockwaves throughout the country with Kenyans feeling unsafe and demanding answers.

Campbell was a senior director with credit-scording firm FICO and had flown into Nairobi for a conference.

A major police search was launched after he vanished without telling anyone where he was going.

His body was discovered stuffed into a green sack almost 60 miles away in the Makongo forest.

Cops are hunting a mystery man captured on CCTV with Campbell hours before he disappeared.

Detectives believe the “person of interest” may have booked a taxi to take the pair to the Pipeline estate in the city.

Officers fear the suspect may have lured Campbell to his death.

It’s feared the Scot may have been abducted and tortured so crooks could drain his bank accounts.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Kenya and are in contact with the local authorities.”
