A 21-year-old final-year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Daniel Tuffuor, has been remanded into police custody in connection with the alleged murder of his fellow final-year student, Joana Deladem Yabani.
Tuffuor was arrested on Thursday, 27 February 2025, after Joana’s lifeless body was discovered on campus earlier that morning. University security officials alerted the police, leading to his detention.
Authorities suspect that the deceased and the accused were in a romantic relationship at the time of her tragic death.
Tuffuor was arraigned before the Prempeh District Court, where prosecutors requested his remand to facilitate further investigations. The court granted the request, and he is expected to reappear on 17 March 2025.
The police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding Joana’s death.
