The suspect in the fatal shooting of Lawrencia Naa Borley Nelson, also known as Naa Gamu, has been charged with murder and unlawful possession of firearms.
Samuel Adjei was arraigned following investigations into the incident, which claimed the life of the Queen of the Ga-Adangme Muslim Union (Nungua West).
Tragic Incident at Enskinment Ceremony
Naa Gamu was shot during her enskinment ceremony in Nungua, Accra, on Saturday. A musketry fired as part of the traditional rites struck her in the thigh, leading to her death.
She and her husband were being enskinned as queen and chief of the Ga-Adangme Muslim Union’s Nungua West branch when the incident occurred.
Ongoing Investigations
While the motive behind the shooting remains unclear, the police have confirmed the arrest of Samuel Adjei. Family members of the deceased suspect foul play and are demanding a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Authorities have assured the public of a full inquiry as legal proceedings against the suspect begin.
