On Tuesday evening, a surreal scene took place at the Crypto.com Arena when the Los Angeles Lakers hosted the Dallas Mavericks–with Luka Doncic wearing the purple and gold. While Doncic didn’t put together the virtuoso performance that many were anticipating against the team that shockingly traded him earlier this month, he did secure his first triple double as a member of the Lakers and helped lead the team to victory.
A large part of the reason why the Lakers were able to fend off a pesky Mavericks team down the stretch was the play of LeBron James, who made several big plays in the fourth quarter to keep Dallas at bay.
After the game, James took to his account on X, formerly Twitter, to share some highlights of the game, to the soundtrack of Justin Timberlake’s song “Like I Love You.”

Featured in the montage were several of James’ highlights from the evening, including a clutch putback dunk in the final minutes of the game as well as an open triple created after the Mavericks double-teamed Doncic in the post.
How far can the Lakers go?
Currently, the Lakers are just a couple of games out of the second seed in the Western Conference, which would give them home court advantage through at least the first two rounds of the NBA playoffs should they advance that far.
The Lakers have had some growing pains with Doncic so far, including puzzling losses to both the Charlotte Hornets and the Utah Jazz; however, the team has started to put things together since the All-Star break, first destroying the Denver Nuggets on Saturday and then holding off the Mavericks on Tuesday.
Doncic appears to be getting much more comfortable in his new threads, and James is playing far and away the best basketball of anyone at his age in league history.
In any case, the Lakers will now get ready for an upcoming home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, before a two-game set against their crosstown rival Los Angeles Clippers.
