TRIBUTES are being paid to a dad-of-three who died in a tragic workplace accident in Co Donegal earlier this week.
John Roulston, who was in his 60s, passed way following an accident at his family’s farm at Newtowncunningham on February 24.
Mr Roulston’s tragic death has sent shockwaves through the farming community where he was not just respected locally but also on a national level.
The Roulston farmstead is one of the leading dairy farms in the country with a proud tradition of being a quality milk supplier around the world.
The late Mr Roulston worked closely with his brothers Keith and George on the large dairy farm at Moneymore in Newtowncunningham, Co Donegal.
A Garda spokesperson said investigations into the tragedy are ongoing and the Health and Safety Authority has been informed.
Family members and friends have now paid tribute to the dad-of-three who will be remembered as “one of life’s gentlemen.”
He was also described as a “gentle soul” by mourners
He is survived by his wife Susan, a renowned local vet, as well as the couple’s children and Mr Roulston’s extended family.
Mr Roulston’s is pre-deceased by his father Alan.
The funeral mass for the dad-of-three will take place on Friday, February 28.
‘A GREAT LOSS’
The service will be held in Newtowncunningham Presbyterian Church at 1pm.
He will be laid in her final resting place during a burial in the adjoining graveyard.
And tributes have also been paid to Mrs Roulston.
One wrote: “Deepest condolences I dealt with him in Irwin Electrical wholesale permanent smile on his face.
“A great loss to our whole community, [and] a sad time for his family.”
‘KEEP SMILING’
Someone else added: “What a terrible tragedy. May the Lord shine his mercy upon you as all and guide you all through the darkness.
“Rest in everlasting peace Robert John keep smiling and keep your wife and family strong.”
Another one said: “My deepest Sympathy to you Susan and your girls.
“John always had the greatest smile and wave when I would meet him on the roads. A huge shock to hear this sad news.”
A third one added: “We were so saddened to hear of John’s tragic passing. Our deepest condolences to you and all the family at this sad time, he was one of life’s gentlemen.”
A fourth said: “There are no words to convey how so very sorry I am for the loss of your dear husband.
“I feel so very much for you and the million things that have vanished from your life this week and the billion things you will grieve each day that he isn’t here.”
