President of Policy Think Tank, IMANI Africa, has called for the Chairman of the Appointments Committee to be removed.
According to him, he is too rigid and comes to the seat unprepared.
Franklin Cudjoe wants him to be replaced with flexible Kweku Rickett-Haggan, who for the past two days made the vetting more interesting and engaging.
In a series of posts shared via social media, he registered his displeasure at the leadership of Benard Ahiafor on the Appointments Committee.
“We enjoyed two days of cordial respectful, educative and entertaining vetting with Ricketts-Hagan and Afenyo, only to be inflicted with the uinspiring, unprepared, boring and capriciously jaundiced and political chairman- what chairman?
Hon. Kweku George Ricketts-Hagan should have been Chairman of the Appointments Committee from day 1! He understands the issues, participates in clarifying questions especially from Afenyo-Markin, and responses from nominees. He knows who to point to at critical moments to ask questions,” he said.
Adding that “Be honest, guys. But for Afenyo-Markin, this whole vetting would have been boring and we never would have known so mych about the nominees.
You don’t spoil it by bringing back the most rigid, unprepared and severely uninspiring chairman. Sad.
Bring back Ricketts-Hagan”.
His comment comes on the back of the decision of the Minority in Parliament to stage a walkout after after the Chairman of the Committee infuriated the Minority leader with his comments and decision to overrule his questions during the vetting of the Deputy Attorney General.
