Dallas, now 67, has been appointed the referees’ body‘s Select Group Manager.
Along with linking up with key personnel in the game more often, Dallas will also have an important role in liaising with Premier League clubs.
Dallas had been previously operating as English refs chief Howard Webb‘s No2 since July.
The veteran official made the move to England after working as a referee supervisor at Euro 2024.
Confirming his new role, Webb, 52, said: “We are delighted to welcome someone of Hugh’s calibre and experience to the role of Select Group Manager.
“His track record speaks for itself and his deep knowledge of the game, combined with his understanding of the increasing demands faced by match officials at the elite level, makes him an invaluable addition to our team.”
Dallas spent just over a year as head of referee development at the SFA after taking on the role in 2009.
He was sacked in 2010 for sending an offensive email about the pope.
Dallas, who refereed at the 1998 and 2002 World Cups, later had a spell in Greece as chief refereeing officer plus a role in Turkey.
He also worked under Pierluigi Collina as an assistant refereeing officer at Uefa.
The 67-year-old was a referee observer at four matches at Euro 2024, including the last 16 clash between Portugal and Slovenia.
