A SECTION of the busy M20 in Limerick, which is used by thousands of drivers every day, has been closed this afternoon due to a multi-vehicle collision.
An alert has been issued to road users on the route to expect “significant delays”.
The stretch is closed between Junction 4 and Junction 5 near Patrickswell in Limerick, with all lanes affected by the collision.
Diversions have been put in place but Gardai warn delays in the area are expected.
Posting an alert on social media Gardai said: “The M20 has been closed between Junctions 4 and 5 southbound.
“Diversions are in place. Delays are expected if travelling in this area.”
Transport Infrastructure Ireland warned: “Road closure due to a multi vehicle collision. All lanes affected.
“Significant delays to your journey will occur. Please use a different route for your journey.”
