Andor Season 2 trailer is finally here, and it’s safe to assume that fans were stunned the moment they heard that beat drop from the beginning. It’s quite unlike previous Star Wars trailers we’ve seen, and while it’s a breather for some, it’s quite intriguing for the rest.

Apart from the show’s critically acclaimed production, Season 1 was lauded for exploring mature themes that led to the Rebel Alliance’s overthrow of the Galactic Empire. Now, why did they use this particular song for the Season 2 trailer?
Andor Season 2 trailer music acknowledges an important scene in the first season
We are used to hearing music scores for Star Wars trailers, but this isn’t quite new to the franchise. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew also utilized a song with lyrics, but Andor has a different take. While we’re seeing images of explosions and rigorous fights, we can hear Steve Earle’s 2004 hit ‘The Revolution Starts Now’ in the background.
Some may wonder what it has to do with Star Wars, but the clues were found in the lyrics. In fact, the track spoke of the very core of the Andor series, especially after what transpired in the first season.

There were many compelling speeches delivered in Season 1, but perhaps the most remarkable was Maarva Andor’s monologue in Episode 12.
The Empire is a disease that thrives in darkness, it is never more alive than when we sleep. It’s easy for the dead to tell you to fight, and maybe it’s true, maybe fighting is useless. Perhaps it’s too late. But I’ll tell you this, if I could do it again, I’d wake up early and be fighting these bastards from the start! Fight the Empire!
Earle’s lyrics clearly encapsulate Maarva’s moving speech. “The revolution starts now when you rise above your fear and tear the walls around you down” sounds quite encouraging and perfect to use as a battle cry. It neatly dovetails the events from the first season to what the audience will see in the sequel.
While this seems experimental for the series, it actually creates a more solid message for the viewers. Andor built its reputation by representing the real situation of the world, and one of the ways to truly convey the story to the fans is through music.
Is the trailer song for Andor a huge deal?

The song definitely speaks for itself, and the fact that it acknowledges its target audience through the song choice is already a huge plus point. If anything, modern music in a Star Wars franchise already gives off a rebellious atmosphere, making its point clearer than ever.
Season 1 has instilled the concept of revolution in Cassian Andor, and the second saga will reinforce this as evident in the teaser, so if there’s any obvious instant effect Earle’s song had on the fans, it is to hype them up for the upcoming season!
Andor Season 2 arrives on April 22 on Disney+.
