Anime adaptations can be a hit or miss most of the time. This also holds especially true for live-action adaptations that are on the rise. To be specific, Mads Mikkelsen’s casting as an anime character would be nothing short of iconic as most fans have noted. This ties in well with his stark resemblance to the characters played by the seasoned voice actor Kenjiro Tsuda. It only highlights the diversity and versatility of the VA’s

Mads Mikkelsen is the personification of an anime character

We know him as Hannibal Lecter from Hannibal and Martin from Another Round but one thing is for sure. Mads Mikkelsen is one of the finest actors in Hollywood who has worked on different projects. Be it movies or video games, Mikkelsen has a diverse roster of works but that is not the end of it.

The Danish actor has dabbled in dubbing with his role of Kiros in Mufasa: The Lion King and Sniff in the popular Swedish animated series Moomin. He inadvertently inspired a character in Land of Peace which fits perfectly with him being a personification of an anime character as fans pointed out.

Quite honestly, fans on X aren’t wrong to think that Mikkelsen would ace the character.

In all seriousness, Mikkelsen would nail both Kishibe and Nanami’s roles and since both characters are voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda it makes one thing certain. The characters played by Tsuda-san bring out his signature flair as well as his range as a voice artist and an actor.

Kenjiro Tsuda’s diversity as a voice actor

Indeed, Mikkelsen is Nanami-coded and there is no doubt about it, however, it is synonymous with Kenjiro Tsuda and his versatile roles. Tsuda-san is known for voicing some of the edgiest characters in anime ranging from Kishibe to Nanami.

His role as Overhaul in My Hero Academia adds to his brilliance as a seiyuu. Truly it is challenging to breathe life into a character. Tsuda-san effortlessly does so and highlights his layered character through his acting. Other than paternal and edgy characters, he voiced some hilarious characters as well.

Most specifically, his role as Yasuda in Horimiya as well as Seijuro Mikoshiba in Free! adds to his craftsmanship as a multifaceted artist. He is often praised for his deep and textured voice which is a rarity in itself. Precisely why most fans associate him with more mature roles be it mentor or father figure.

It may seem like some sort of a typecasting culture but that isn’t true. While he is known for voicing some of the most menacing characters, people often overlook his other roles in the process. And to be fair, he truly lives up to his status as a veteran voice actor.

It would be phenomenal to witness Mads Mikkelsen bring Tsuda-san’s characters to life. And while it isn’t confirmed in any case, we can hope for the best.

Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man are available for streaming on Netflix.
