‘Solo Leveling’ Has the Opportunity to Make Igris Even Better Than Beru by Making a Canonical Change to the Story

Spoiler Alert !!!
This article contains Solo Leveling manhwa spoilers.

From power scaling debates to discussion threads, Solo Leveling is everywhere right now. The anime surpassed expectations with stunning animation and it just keeps getting better. For a series as massively popular, it’s common for fans to express their appreciation for it through their own creations, whether it be fan fiction, theories, or fan art.

An X user recently shared their fanart for Igris and it’s good enough to be a part of the canon storyline. The details align with the characterization of the crimson knight. Although it’ll be a massive detour from the original storyline, this fan art is enough to boost Igris’ popularity.

This Igris fan art should be canon in Solo Leveling

After a great run of ten episodes, the first season of Solo Leveling concluded with an exciting fight between Igris and Sung Jinwoo. Igris was the first shadow soldier to become a part of Jinwoo’s army. So far in the story, Igris seems to be the only character who has beaten up Jinwoo. This makes him extremely special, and his unwavering loyalty more interesting.

Throughout the story, we see Igris in his blood-red armor, maintaining poise and a proud demeanor. X user @emwjpg recently shared their fanart of Igris with his face revealed. The fanart looks gorgeous and aligns with Igris’ personality.

The fanart captures the menacing yet composed air that Igris exudes. He’s truly a knight who understands his role and plays it with utmost dedication. A single glance at Igris’s ‘face’ makes one wish for a spin-off based on him. However, with how good this design is, it could also be a part of the canon storyline.

Similar to how Beru has a complete character arc and personality, a simple reveal like this could extend Igris’s role in the story. As delightful as this thought might seem, it’s nearly impossible for the anime to go ahead and make such a huge change. Although, we still have Beru’s introduction coming up in the anime.

The anime has nearly reached the end of the Return to the Demon Castle Arc, and next up we have the Jeju Island Arc. The Jeju Island raid is easily the most anticipated part of the anime, and that includes Beru’s introduction as well. Beru starts out as a merciless monster and soon turns into a comic addition to the huge cast of characters.

This transformation is in stark contrast with his intimidating strength, but the humor completes his character. He’s extremely different from Igris but one thing they both share in common is their allegiance to Jinwoo. As the anime progresses, it’ll be interesting to see how Beru fits in with Igris, Tank, and the rest of the shadow army.

Solo Leveling is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
