Naruto is known for its top-tier jutsu, and Senjutsu is one of them. Not only is it daunting, but it gives the characters a certain edge over the others. We all saw how the knucklehead made it way cooler than Jiraiya by mastering it within a brief period. But he might not be the OG God in any case.
According to this fan theory, a certain someone learned the jutsu beforehand but it isn’t what makes it special. From fluency to usage, the character’s feats make it rather legendary. However, it only proves why Masashi Kishimoto should have expanded and unpacked the domains of Sage Mode in the series.
The Senjutsu God in Naruto
In the beginning, we were introduced to different types of jutsu in Naruto mainly ninjutsu, taijutsu, and dojutsu. Then there is kinjutsu (Forbidden Techniques) and kenjutsu (sword fighting), which were in a league of their own. But what truly stands as a god-tier jutsu type is Sage Mode.
Sage Mode or Senjutsu isn’t every ninja’s cup of tea in the sense that it requires patience. Or rather, lots of it, especially when it comes to its mastery and proficiency, but there are exceptions to that as well. The knucklehead ninja is one of them with him being able to achieve it in around a month or so.
What makes it special isn’t the timeline but its efficiency. To be able to harness natural chakra reserves makes it a true MVP. Speed, reflexes, and senses are enhanced which further gives the user an upper hand in battles. And while our hero excelled in it, he might not be on a god level according to this theory.
According to a theory posted in r/Naruto, Hashirama may have learned Sage Mode on his own especially when it comes to his wood style. His energy reserves along with his regeneration abilities could be a part of him venturing out and learning it without anyone’s guidance. This makes one thing certain.
There are only a handful of ninjas who gained proficiency in this jutsu. When it comes to being a Senjutsu God, it has to be Hashirama Senju, especially with his chakra levels and reserves. This fits perfectly with him being Asura’s descendant, but it also points to the burning mystery behind the jutsu.
The enigma of Sage Mode in Masashi Kishimoto’s series
There are several burning questions and unanswered mysteries in Masashi Kishimoto’s series, and Sage Mode is one of them. A larger part of it has to do with Hashirama gaining expertise in the form. However, it hasn’t been expanded on as of yet, which adds a tinge of enigma to the jutsu.
Several theories point to him gaining experience and training at Shikkotsu Forest. Many know it to be a slug abode and it makes sense considering his healing abilities and endurance. However, it isn’t confirmed by the mangaka whatsoever, which further leaves room for plot inconsistencies in the series.
To add to that, other characters have displayed Sage Mode-esque abilities and prowess in the series. This makes it convoluted when it comes to the extent of the jutsu itself. The true potential of this broken ability is something that is incessantly discussed within the fandom.
For all we know, Hashirama Senju is a blend of power, compassion, and mystery. His strength is intimidating and daunting, yet it remains a mystery for most fans be it viewers or readers.
