Serena Williams is not your typical soccer mom, cheering from the sidelines and handing our orange slices. And not because she’s Serena freakin’ Williams and seeing her at her child’s soccer game would be like seeing Kate Middleton at one of Prince Louis’ games. (Although it totally would be like that!) No, Williams is bringing a whole new meaning to the term “soccer mom” because she is giving her daughter Olympia Ohanian the coolest introduction to the sport.
The 23-time Grand Slam Champion brought Olympia — who she shares with husband Alexis Ohanian (AKA the co-founder of Reddit) along with 1-year-old daughter Adira — to an Inter Miami CF soccer game. The duo went on the field with co-owner David Beckham and got matching personalized jerseys.
“Why do athletes do the same thing? Oh yeah and about last night,” Williams captioned her post before tagging Beckham, Olympia, and soccer star Paul Pogba.
“Rena and her mini me. 🙏🏽❤️🌹,” one person commented because Olympia is totally her mom’s mini-me. Especially now that the little girl and her “soccer mom” can twin in their pink jerseys.
Earlier this month, Olympia made headlines when she helped her mom prepare for her iconic Super Bowl Halftime Show performance. The little manager-in-training was all business at her mom’s rehearsals. From the adorable photos, it looks like the 7-year-old gave her mom a pep talk, helped do her hair, and was not letting her mom goof off.
Olympia then watched her mom’s performance with her dad in what looked like comfy box seats at Caesars Superdome. Her shirt said, “Adore You,” and we hoped it was her sweet way of cheering her mom on.
Now what we want to know is if Olympia did her mom’s makeup (or at least lent a hand?) for the Halftime Show. The Wyn Beauty founder shared a video of her daughter doing a makeup tutorial last month, and even professionals were impressed with the little girl’s skills. If not for the Super Bowl, maybe she got to help her mom with her look for the Inter Miami CF soccer game. After all, it’s clear the kid has talent and style! And if her mom is bringing a whole new meaning to “soccer mom,” maybe Olympia is bringing a whole new meaning to “child star.”
