Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped the traditional regent of Ezeala Owerre, HRH Pascal Nwagbake and a community leader, Hon Kenneth Nwachukwu, in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State. Nwachukwu, a community leader in Umunumo and the traditional ruler were abducted at Aba Branch, Ehime Mbano last week. According to reports from close sources, the traditional leader was kidnapped on Thursday night 20th February 2025 at his residence. It was gathered that the gunmen shot sporadically in the air before whisking him away to an unknown destination. The kidnappers have not demanded any ransom for their release. In a press statement by the Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ehime Mbano Branch, Comr. G.O. Chidera expressed the council’s sadness and concern over the kidnapping. We as a community and family are deeply concerned about his safety and well-being and that of Hon. Kenneth, and we urge and appeal to the kidnappers to release them unharmed, the statement reads. The council fears that the aged leaders may not be receiving the medical attention and assistance they need. Chidera reiterated the council’s plea, saying, We are yet to recover from the loss of three of our brothers in Umueze 1 who were killed in Anambra State and I can tell you that the Council is deeply concerned about their safety and well-being, and we urge the kidnappers to release them alive. “The Ehime Mbano LG-NYCN Branch has called on the LG CHAIRMAN, the Local Government Security Network, the Imo State Secretary to the State Government, the Imo state police command and indeed Nigerian authorities to take immediate action to ensure HRH Pascal Nwagbake and Hon. Kenneth Nwachukwu safe release. “The council also appeals to the general public to provide any information that may lead to their rescue. Chidera further assured that the council would continue to work tirelessly to ensure their safe return while advocating for the safety and security of all Nigerians.
