PETER O’MAHONY shared his best gardening tip much to the delight of followers on Instagram.
The former Ireland giant is back tending to his back garden after the conclusion of his international career at the end of the Six Nations.

On Instagram, he shared a video of himself cutting back his hydrangeas while narrating the process.
Alongside the video, the 35-year-old said: “It’s that time of the year again to cut back your Hydrangea.
“For the newer versions (Hydrangea Annabelle that flower on new growth) go 12 inches up, above a bud and cut there.
“For the older versions (Let’s dance which flower on old wood) you are basically just deadheading or even leave alone…
“I prefer to deadhead.”
The comments were full of fans thanking him for the advice with one admitting; “Omg
,, I’ve been doing it all wrong
.. thank you”
A second said: “Pete the way you refer to your plants as she I love it! I do that too
”
A third revealed: “Did mine yesterday, right on time ”
A fourth hailed: “Love them. If healthy, you can use the cuttings to make more plants too ”
A fifth commented: “First time I’ve ever tried this. It works”
A sixth posted: “Thank you so much! I tried it today so hope they grow back ”
And a seventh insisted: “You should seriously start a gardening YouTube channel”
The latest update came after O’Mahony shared a pair of videos to his Instagram story of him and his son tending to the garden.
The first sees him revealing that he would be “cutting back to hydrangea this weekend” and revealed “when you know they are ready”.
The second, meanwhile, shows him cutting his potted grasses before handing them to his son, who is just off screen.
It is, therefore, not entirely clear whether it was Theo or Ralph who has giving him a helping hand.
But it may have been his older son based on how he is a frequent gardening assistant.
Back in January, dad and son went the extra mile to “keep the birds happy” during the cold snap.
Then again, it may have been Ralph, who is also an enthusiastic helper.
Last October, as O’Mahony was recovering from injury, he shared a video of him and his young son Ralph “mowing the lawn” with the boy using a toy lawn mower to imitate his dad.
