Fans have been eagerly waiting for the Yellowstone prequel 1923 season 2 since the season 1 ended in 2023. The premiere of season 2 brings up a big question: is this the last season of the series? The streaming channel will also air season 1 of 1923 on television. While Yellowstone fans are habituated to long waits, the delay of the second season seemed a bigger event for fans.
Will the season be the final season of 1923?
According to Deadline, Sheridan initially planned two eight-episode seasons for 1923. Though Paramount+ did not announce if season 2 will be the end of 1923, Sheridan has laid the groundwork for more drama surrounding the Dutton family. Whether the drama comes in the form of spin-offs or sequels, is yet to be revealed. The Dutton family tree still has gaps, but Sheridan has a habit of spinning off new shows instead of extending existing ones.
As the Dutton family tree stretches, there is more to expect and pieces to fit together. Sheridan is so deeply invested in the Dutton family ranch history that he is considering two limited series exploring the family’s struggle and fight to keep the ranch in the 1940s and 1960s. With Yellowstone wrapping up soon and other spin-offs in the works, Taylor Sheridan isn’t done with the Western empire.
