Kaavia James is in her Disney era, and in true Shady Baby fashion, she’s part princess and part sassy sidekick. Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade’s 6-year-old daughter just went on an epic vacation to Disneyland, where she met iconic characters, went on rides, and seemed to have an awesome time in the magical park.
“the best part of the adventure… is who we get to share it with @disneyland,” the Bring It On alum captioned a new video on Instagram in a joint post with Kaavia and Wade. The adorable video is a sweet memory vault of their time, showing equal moments of Kaavia’s shady and sweet sides.
“It’s begun. Disney!” Union says at the beginning of the video, panning the camera to show the group of friends they went with, then Wade trailing behind carrying Kaavia in his arms. At the beginning of the day?! That’s how you know it’s going to be a long one!
At one point, Kaavia drives Union in a car. “First driving lesson!” Union says, before coaching her to take a curve. Kaavia bumps right into it, jolting Union, who gives a look to the camera. She just saw her life flash before her eyes picturing Kaavia starting real driving lessons at 15.
At another moment, Kaavia and Union are in the submarine ride, and the 6-year-old looks like a pre-teen with her bored expression. Right after this, her dad gives her a piggyback ride as she shows off her pink Minnie Mouse ears with a rainbow fabric trailing behind her. Princess mode activated!
They go to the castle and meet Mickey Mouse, Cinderella, Mulan, Minnie Mouse, and Ariel, and Kaavia has the biggest smile we’ve ever seen on her face in every snap. She poses exactly like the character she’s standing next to like a perfect angel. Other than a couple boring, shade-throwing moments, Kaavia is clearly enchanted by the whole experience.
“Making memories ❤️❤️! The happiest place on earth 🌍” one person commented. Someone else wrote, “A family that goes to Disney together, stays together. I love this. I hope y’all had the best adventure.”

Kaavia has loved Disney princesses for a while, so it’s amazing that she got to meet them in real life. At her 5th birthday party in 2023, the cutie actually dressed up as five different princesses! She wore a yellow dress to be Princess Belle from Beauty and the Beast; a green Tiana dress and gold tiara for The Princess and the Frog; a light blue Cinderella dress with a white tulle skirt; a blue tank top and silver tiara as Elsa from Frozen; and a blue dress with a red wig as Ariel from The Little Mermaid.
The Riff Raff actress wrote a sweet tribute to her daughter on her 6th birthday in November (which was Barbie themed). “Miss Kaavia James Union Wade is 6 today!!!” Union wrote. “You are a miracle who has blessed everyone with your kindness, compassion, elite humor, intelligence and your loving soul. You are a gift to your family, blood and chosen, and so many people across the world.”
“We love you beyond measure and we celebrate your cute little self daily!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY QUEEN KAAVIA!!!” she added.
Because queens (and Disney princesses) don’t have to wait until their birthday to have a good time!
