There is nothing as intense as the fight scene between Jack Reacher and Paulie that fans have seen on television. It was a spectacle teased from the beginning of the show’s third season, and it’s so gratifying to see it happen in the most perfect setting.
Reacher Season 3 has proven itself better than the first two installments, with a villain that genuinely lived up to the expectations of viewers. It’s one of those historical moments on television when fans, after finishing the show, would wonder how on earth the next season would even match up.
Jack Reacher and Paulie’s fight scene created a momentous moment in television
Reacher’s third season featured a villain who was finally a worthy opponent of Alan Ritchson’s character. Paulie, portrayed by Dutch bodybuilder and actor Olivier Richters, towered above Reacher, who was already a giant himself.
From the start, Paulie already showed us—and Reacher—that he’s not someone to mess with. If our hero easily toppled his former enemies using the advantage of his stature, his new rival gave him something to worry about. Now, Reacher had to use both his brains and brawn to bring down Paulie.
Reacher rarely broke a sweat when he fought his enemies in close combat, but following his fight sequence with Paulie, the actor even met an accident after he was thrown and slammed on a table.
Ritchson revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he insisted on doing his own stunts, which proved to be a bad idea. “He slammed me through the table so hard, I went through it into the seventh circle of hell, and I woke up a day and a half later,” he confessed. Their grueling duel, which almost went on forever, took three weeks to film.
The scene highlights the fact that Reacher has never fought anyone as formidable as Paulie. Sure, they had some unbelievable death-defying stunts, but it only proved that the henchman cannot be easily squashed even by someone as big as Reacher.
Season 3 has its highs and lows, but after that rigorous fight scene, we’re not sure how the show can ever make anything as impressive as that again—or even find a worthy rival as good as Paulie.
Will there be a Reacher Season 4?
After a mission well done for Reacher and a great season indeed, it’s only natural for Prime Video to renew the show. Yes, we’re getting another dose of insane action as Season 4 was already confirmed back in October 2024.
There’s no official release date yet for the upcoming installment, but fans can expect it will be bigger and bolder this time. Season 3 would be hard to beat, and any less-than-stellar performance could ruin the show’s reputation. The creatives behind this project now have a huge problem coming up with a story that might raise the bar again or cause Reacher’s downfall.
