Snooker legend John Higgins spotted at Celtic-themed Glasgow show as he hangs out with popular comedian

JOHN HIGGINS is one of Celtic’s biggest celebrity fans.

The Scottish snooker icon, 49, is regularly spotted taking in matches at Parkhead and has taken part in charity games hosted by the Hoops in years gone by as well.

And this week he was in Glasgow attending a play that revolves around his favourite club Celtic.

Higgins visited popular Glasgow venue Òran Mór on Wednesday night to enjoy Phil Differ’s latest production called Celtic Da’s.

Starring popular Scottish comedians Raymond Mearns and Bruce Morton, the story follows two lifelong Celtic supporting pals who are in their seventies and only manage to find negatives in their team despite all the success.

According to the blurb on Òran Mór website, it focuses on ‘their evolution from young and gallous fans into Celtic Da’s’.

Higgins, who turns 50 in May, was one of the many who embraced their Hoops love-affair and bought tickets for the show.

He even caught up with one of the two starts afterwards.

Mearns expressed his excitement on social media after getting the chance to catch up with one of his all-time heroes.

Sharing a picture of him meeting the four-time snooker world champ, he wrote: “Absolutely overjoyed to meet The Wizard of Wishaw – John Higgins last night when he came along to see Celtic Da’s at Òran Mór in Glasgow.

“Still buzzing, the show went well and I got to meet one of my heroes.”

Mearns is best known for his part in Scottish comedy sitcom Legit, where he played Happy Boab.

Fans who are familiar with his work will have noticed the nod to his latest production in the title of the Oran Mor show this week.

Since 2024, Mearns has co-hosted a podcast named Glesga Da Podcast with fellow comedian Stuart Mitchell.

And although he portrayed himself as a die-hard Celtic fan on Wednesday night, the comedian is actually a Motherwell supporter.

He’s a huge fan of the national team as well and was over in Germany last year to watch Steve Clarke‘s men take on the Euros.

And he was wearing a Germany top when he met up with the Wizard of Wishaw.

His co-star Morton is best-known for his role as I.D. Sheathing in Still Game.
