“Funny, I don’t think about you at all”: Even Jon Hamm Cherished the Greatest ‘Mad Men’ Quote But There’s Another That’s His Absolute Favorite

Actor Jon Hamm rose to prominence with his performance as Don Draper in the critically acclaimed series Mad Men. It ran for seven seasons and earned Hamm multiple Emmy nominations while being regarded as one of the greatest modern cable television shows.

In a recent interview, Hamm discussed his work on the iconic series and was asked about some of his favorite lines from it, which have formed quite a trend on social media.

In response, Hamm picked two of the most savage lines from the series. Here is what Hamm had to say about his favorite quotes from Mad Men, and why the two lines are a standout amid the show’s brilliant writing.

Jon Hamm revealed his favorite quotes from Mad Men

Jon Hamm played the role of Don Draper, the creative director of an advertising agency. Hamm played the role for seven seasons as the series earned critical acclaim and emerged as one of the most iconic shows of the 2000s.

During an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Hamm reflected on his time on the series. He was informed about its resurgence thanks to the rise of social media. As a result, the actor was asked about his favorite quotes from the series.

Funny, I don’t think about you at all.

Hamm stated the above line as one of his picks for his favorite quotes from the series.

In the series, Don Draper meets his fiercely competitive co-worker Michael Ginsberg in the elevator. After Ginsberg expresses that he feels sorry for Draper, Hamm’s character simply responds with the above line, which is truly reflective of Draper’s cold persona.

At the same time, Hamm also recalled a conversation between Draper and his assistant, Peggy Olson, where the latter demands gratitude in return for the work she does for her. Instead, Draper coldly responds:

That’s what the money is for.

Both lines stand out as Hamm’s favorite quotes from the series, primarily because of how truly reflective they are of his character. Therefore, while there is no shortage of iconic quotes from the series, it is easy to see why these two are Hamm’s favorites.

Jon Hamm discussed reprising his iconic Mad Men role in Jerry Seinfeld’s movie

During the same interview, Hamm, who recently appeared in Taylor Sheridan’s new series Landman, also talked about reprising his iconic Mad Men role. Last year, Hamm appeared in the Jerry Seinfeld-directed comedy film Unfrosted.

In the film, Hamm appeared alongside his Mad Men co-star John Slattery, who played Roger Sterling. Although the duo is credited as Ad Man #1 and Ad Man #2, their characters are implied to be the same as their Mad Men roles.

I said I’ll do it if Slattery does it. Slattery said I’ll do it if Hamm does it, so we both showed up on the day and it was super fun.

Hamm made the above statement, admitting that it was fun to reprise his most famous role after a gap of almost a decade.

Furthermore, Hamm revealed that his cameo was kept a secret as the film was shot during the COVID-19 pandemic. Seinfeld personally approached him and Slattery to reprise the role, and the actors agreed to do it together, making for a fun cameo.

Mad Men is streaming on AMC+.
