Dublin weather: Hail & thunderstorms to batter TODAY before ‘dry & settled’ conditions dominate in high pressure switch

SCATTERED showers, isolated thunderstorms and chilly temperatures are all on the cards for Dublin’s weather today.

But despite a bout of bad weather, the capital is set to see a major shift in only a few days.

Dublin will see heavy rain to start out the weekend, with drizzle and cool breezes continuing into Saturday.

However Sunday is looking to see a major improvement as conditions begin to lighten up.

Today will start out a “cool and breezy” day as scattered showers develop from the west.

These showers will become heavy at times, bringing a chance of hail and isolated thunderstorms.

Met Eireann added: “The showers will ease and become more isolated later in the day.

“Highest temperatures of 9C or 10C in moderate to fresh and gusty westerly winds, moderating later.”

Tonight will then start out mostly dry, however cloud is expected to build toward the morning.

Temperatures will remain quite cold overnight, with lows of 2C to 3C.

Tomorrow will see sunny spells emerge at first but soon will return to cloudy, overcast conditions.

Met Eireann said: “Some bright or sunny spells possible at first tomorrow but turning cloudy with patchy light rain and drizzle moving in from the west along with some mist, hill and coastal fog.

“Highest temperatures of 11C or 12C with moderate to fresh south to southwest winds developing.”

Tomorrow night will see largely dry weather with a mix of cloud and clear spells, with overnight temperatures improving to 5C to 8C.

Sunday will see some major improvements on the weather front as “largely dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells” hit.

Temperatures will range from 12C to 16 as a few light showers emerge.

On Sunday night, Met Eireann said: “Turning mostly cloudy overnight. Dry for most though with just a few light showers, mainly in the northwest.

“Lowest temperatures of 5C to 9C in light southwesterly breezes with mist and fog patches developing.”

NEXT WEEK

Monday will see mist and fog clear for a mostly dry day with some isolated showers, but mainly sunny spells as temperatures hit 12C to 15C.

It will be mainly dry overnight with lowest temperatures of 4C to 8C as some mist and fog patches will also develop.

Tuesday will see a “dry day with better spells of sunshine likely”, with temperatures of 11C to 15C.

As for the rest of the week, weather bosses said:” Indications are that it will be mostly dry and settled as high pressure continues to dominate our weather through the rest of the working week.”
