Jenna Bush Hager’s eldest daughter, Mila Hager, is full of personality and isn’t afraid to call out members of her famous family.
Jenna, 43, revealed that Mila, 11, is not a fan of being around Secret Service when Jenna’s parents, former President George W. Bush and former first lady, Laura Bush, are in town.
“My mom came to visit a couple of weeks ago, and we were driving around, we went to dinner, and Mila looked at me and she’s like, ‘Are you humiliated?’” Jenna told People in an interview published on Thursday, March 27. “I’m like, ‘What? Why would I be humiliated?’ And it’s because of the Secret Service entourage!”
The former first daughter also revealed that she asked Mila if she would like to invite Laura, 78, to “Bring Your Special Person to School Day.” Jenna’s eldest child was less than enthused about the idea.
“She’s like, ‘Sorry Grammy, but you can’t do that. You can’t do that.’ Because she just can’t imagine!” the Today host told the outlet.
In addition to Mila, Jenna also shares kids Poppy, 9, and Hal, 5, with husband Henry Hager. On Thursday, Henry, 46, joined Jenna as the guest cohost on Today With Jenna & Friends, where he was greeted by a video message from his kids, wishing him good luck.
“I bet you’re gonna do the best,” Hal sweetly said in the video, which was shown during the episode.
“Dad, good luck and do what you practiced in the car because it was really good!” Mila told her father. “Good luck, Dad!”
Henry was touched by the support from his kids, joking “You managed to get our kids into the Today show.”
“Well, it’s your favorite thing, right?” Jenna replied jokingly.
“Not really,” Henry said to his wife. “But that was so sweet.”
The interaction was in reference to a previous bombshell that Jenna dropped when she said Henry banned the kids from coming on the talk show after Mila revealed during a Today appearance that her mom once peed her pants while laughing.
“She said something very controversial,” Jenna told E! News in January after Mila’s remark on Today went viral. “So, therefore, my husband gave her a lifetime ban. We’ll see if that’s lifted maybe for bring your kids to work day. But she hasn’t been always the most supportive, let’s just say that.”
After Hoda Kotb left the show in early January, Jenna revealed that Mila wished she could be her mom’s coanchor the most out of all of her family members.
“They’re not jumping, but I may push them like I’ve done my whole life,” the mom of three revealed. “You know who really wants to do it? Mila Hager.”
Also during Henry’s Today cohosting debut, he got some advice from Hoda, 60, in a video message about being Jenna’s cohost.
“I’ve got some good advice. No. 1, never point out any of her stains because she’s gonna have one here, one here and one here,” she told him. “Have a blow dryer at the ready. Do you know why? Armpit stains.”
