Ben Affleck has been under a lot of limelight as of late, and it’s not just because of all the outstanding performances he has been delivering all this time. Rather, it’s because of all the other things that he has been making headlines for, especially after his recent divorce from his second wife and Hollywood’s beloved boss babe Jennifer Lopez.
That said, one of the recent things that he got under the spotlight for was the tabloids reporting that the FBI had visited Affleck’s home for some reason. What made it even more of a point of speculation and intrigue was the fact that this happened after his split with Lopez. But, as it turns out, the truth is far more uninteresting than all the buzz surrounding the situation.
Ben Affleck confesses why the FBI recently visited his house
Of all the things that made headlines recently about the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star besides his split from Jennifer Lopez, one of the most noticeable ones was this: the FBI visited his house. While that raises enough alarms, what made it even more confounding for his fans was the fact that this happened soon after his divorce from his second wife.
However, as excited as the buzz surrounding it was, Ben Affleck has finally cleared the air on it all. In fact, as he recently came candidly clean about it all during a recent interview, he had no idea that the FBI had visited his home. To say the least, he himself found out about the matter through tabloids.
Confessing about the same, the Air star told GQ:
As it turns out, the FBI did, in fact, visit my house. But this is pretty revealing, right? So I come home and I see there’s a story with sources that say, “Hey, the FBI was at your house.” I’m like, “Well, this is strange.”
Continuing, Affleck then went on to share the story of how he figured out what actually happened, saying: “So I call them and say, ‘Hey, FBI, were you at my house? Do you want to talk to me?’ ‘Oh, we don’t know.’ I get transferred along. Finally, somebody who is actually responsible for what was happening was like, ‘Oh, we had no idea that was your house.’”
Long story short, apparently, what actually happened was: “There was a break-in of a federal official’s home in that area. So the FBI went around and whoever lived there, the FBI rang their bell.” But thanks to all the paparazzi that love to trail him, “there [were] photographers sitting outside and these guys have their FBI jackets on, then it’s: The FBI has visited your house.”
Thus came along the crazy story that the FBI visited Ben Affleck’s home, garnering all that attention and raised brows that it did. But that’s not all.
Ben Affleck shared the theory tabloids linked to the FBI visit
Since it was the photographers who saw the officers first, the news that the FBI had visited Affleck’s home didn’t take long to spread like wildfire on the internet. But while the tabloids published this story without probing further with respect to what actually happened, the most hilarious part was the theories that sprouted following this out-of-the-blue turn of events.
That said, during the same interview, the Justice League actor also shared the theory that the tabloids were linking to the FBI’s visit. The 52-year-old actor revealed, “Whoever wrote the story made up something about how it was related to an investigation about a drone that I guess did crash into one of the helicopters two or three miles up Mandeville Canyon.”
“Turns out, no, it wasn’t about that,” Affleck continued to clarify, admitting that the real story was much less interesting than all the theories that were popping around about the same. “In fact, we were very far from where the drone was. So it’s like: You’ve seen this event about the FBI at my house. I had no idea. My only involvement was to track it down, figure it out.”
With that being put out there, this might disappoint fans, but there really wasn’t any spiced-up mystery behind the FBI visiting Ben Affleck’s home—especially after his divorce from Jennifer Lopez and all the rumors floating around about bad blood and stuff between the exes (which, by the way, the actor recently cleared the air on as well).
At the same time, this serves as a friendly reminder to not trust just everything—all the rumors and reports and so on—being put out there on the tabloids, and to, instead, take everything with a pinch of salt. Who knows? The next rumor might as well be about the FBI visiting Affleck for some reported controversy brewing behind the scenes!
