What is Supercharged XP In Fortnite?

Fortnite reruns a series of timely events to encourage player progression. Of the many available in-game progression items in Fortnite, the Battle Pass is likely the most popular one. In short, Fortnite’s Battle Pass offers a series of in-game rewards (mostly cosmetics), which can be unlocked by progressively completing missions (and thereby EXP) which can then be used to unlock each tier of the Battle Pass.

These can be directly purchased using V-Bucks – with certain additional, optional bonuses available at a higher price. Supercharged XP comes into play here, allowing players to progress through the pass a lot quicker. More on the same below.

The process to unlock Supercharged XP in Fortnite is a rather curious one. In short, players will have to make sure they deliberately miss several Daily or Weekly quests in order to trigger its effect.

Doing so will automatically ‘supercharge’ your EXP gain, where players can earn up to roughly 4 times the usual amount of experience points (to be precise, it is more accurately a 3.75x multiplier). This is a clever mechanic from Epic Games that helps players catch up to speed on any activities they may have missed out on prior.

Supercharged XP will continue to remain active for a while, and players can check for the same by looking up the colour of their XP bar – a gold XP bar/notification means you are in the Supercharged state, while a purple notification means that Supercharge is not currently active. The EXP bar will also have a white lightning bolt beside it to indicate the same.

The Supercharged XP remains active until players fill up the amount of EXP they missed out on via Daily and Weekly quests. Once this deficit is filled, your EXP gain returns back to its normal state.

The Supercharged XP does not take into account certain triggers, such as discovering new landmarks or new areas in general – these discoveries net you the usual amount of EXP. This Supercharged XP cannot be stacked, and nor can it be reserved for later use. Once activated, it will persist until players manage to catch up in terms of their lost progression.

Additionally, keep in mind that Supercharged XP does not count for quest bonuses received via completing said quest. As such, a 10,000 EXP reward will not be transformed into a 40,000 EXP reward.

There are also certain Supercharge XP events which net players a certain amount of experience points – after which, the event will automatically conclude for the said player.
