Court papers allege the 16-year-old acted with another during the attack on Clarendon Street.
It is claimed the boy, while in possession of a frying pan, “punched or otherwise struck Amen Teklay on the body.”
The charge further alleges that the boy struck Amen on the body with a knife and murdered him.
The 16-year-old made no plea at a private hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
He was represented by his lawyer Martin Hughes.
The boy, who is from the city’s Springburn, was remanded by Sheriff Vincent Lunny.
The boy will appear at court again within the next eight days.
A 14-year-old boy appeared at the same court two weeks ago also charged with Amen’s murder.
His charge alleges that he struck Amen with a knife.
A further charge claims the 14-year-old had possession of a knife in the city’s Dumbarton Road three days before the killing.
A 15-year-old who also appeared in court is alleged to have had a barrier pole at the same time or place.
The 14 and 15-year-old boys appeared together on an assault charge against Amen which said to have taken place weeks before the alleged murder.
The alleged attack is said to have taken place on Glasgow’s Great Western Road on February 12 2025.
Court papers allege the 14 and 15-year-old boys, while acting with another unknown to the prosecutor, repeatedly punched and kicked Mr Teklay to the head and body.
The pair also made no plea at their hearings before Sheriff Jonathan Guy.
The 14-year-old was remanded while the 15-year-old was granted bail.
