Trish vs. Lucia: Exploring Who Will Ace It in Netflix’s Devil May Cry

Netflix’s Devil May Cry is all set to explore the adventures of demon hunter Dante as his journey begins with a new series that could potentially help him become even more popular among fans. However, he might not be the only character in the series who will grab the attention of fans, as the lore of Devil May Cry has many other intriguing characters just like Dante.

Among the big character array, the two characters who rule the female side of the list are Trish and Lucia from the original Devil May Cry story. Both are incredibly strong women who were initially created as demons and hold a lot of significance within the narrative. Both have portrayed the lead roles in the different plots and this has raised one big question for fans.

This question is regarding their power and abilities in Devil May Cry and who out of the two is the stronger character. This will in some way help the fans determine their place in the upcoming series and also explore what kind of role each of them will play in the first season of Devil May Cry.

Trish vs. Lucia: How their stories shaped Devil May Cry

As hardcore Devil May Cry fans know, both Trish and Lucia were demons but still, they worked with Dante against the evil forces of the video game. While Trish was created by the prince of Darkness, Mundus, in order to battle Dante, Lucia was a mannequin demon (secretary) created by the main antagonist of Devil May Cry 2, Arius but she betrayed him.

Trish and Lucia might have a similar start to their stories, but they were completely different in more than one way. For example, Trish looked exactly like Dante and Vergil’s mother, Eva which worked as an intriguing plot structure and contributed to her character development. The spin on Dante’s mother’s lookalike working against him and then later joining him made their dynamic more enticing.

Lucia’s case in the central Devil May Cry story was a lot different than Trish’s. Lucia has a soft side to her which makes her connect more with the fans. She eventually develops trust with Dante and it reaches a point where she even asks him to kill her after finding out she was a demon. This trust between the two slowly develops into feeling which adds more substance to the story.

The stronger female lead between Trish and Lucia

It might be difficult to determine who is the stronger female character between Trish and Lucia in Devil May Cry, considering both of them are insanely strong and possess the powers of demons. Both of them have supernatural strength, speed, and defenses, and can use any kind of weapon they deem fit for battle.

The main difference comes from their demonic abilities, which are the strongest weapons in their arsenal. Trish can use her demonic powers for healing, channeling inner energy, and electricity manipulation in the form of lightning. Not only that, but she can even use teleportation through lightning, which is one of her most underrated skills in the Devil May Cry story.

In Lucia’s case, her demonic powers allow her to transform into her original demon form, which looks more dangerous and threatening. She grows wings and can use the feathers of the wings as projectiles. However, if the overall story of both characters is considered, Trish might come out as the stronger one because she was created by Mundus himself.

The more beloved female lead in Devil May Cry

Although both Trish and Lucia are incredibly important in Devil May Cry, only one of them could come out as the better female lead. And while a lot of different aspects contribute to this debate, the most important one is their bond and relationship with the protagonist of Devil May Cry, Dante and how the two characters will shape the story.

While Trish poses as a friend and a partner who looks like Dante’s mother, Lucia has the feelings angle and their coordination in battle. Thus, to determine the more beloved lead who will get a chance in Netflix’s Devil May Cry is a lot more difficult than fans understand.

Plus, there has been no indication from the creators about the story that they will follow in the upcoming series, which makes their roles even more undetermined. But if they go with the fan reception of the two female characters within the game, it is safe to assume that Trish would be the one to be a part of the Devil May Cry series.

Devil May Cry will be available to stream on Netflix from 3 April 2025.
