10 Things We Already Know About ‘Severance’ Season 2 Finale Episode

Severance is the latest piece of fiction taking over the internet, and we are loving it here! The Ben Stiller directorial is fascinating, mind-boggling, mysterious and keeps us on our toes at all times. However, the Severance Season 2 finale is just around the corner, and the fans have a lot of questions. Will the loose ends be finally tied in the very last episode? Let’s find out.

Starring Adam Scott in the leading role, Severance has a unique premise from the get-go that will hook you right in. The story introduces a company, Lumon Industries, and their employees take part in a mind-bending experiment called “severance,” a procedure that splits their work and personal memories. While at the office, they have no clue about their outside lives, and once they leave, they forget everything about their job. This creates two versions of each worker—the ‘innie’ and the ‘outie.’

Mark (Adam Scott) leads the Macrodata Refinement team alongside Dylan (Zach Cherry) and Irving (John Turturro). But things suddenly start to get complicated when Mark’s two worlds start to collide in unexpected ways, questioning Lumon’s very credibility.

With the finale episode just around the corner, let’s look at some of the obvious things that will happen in Severance Episode 10.

1. Mark and Ms. Cobel’s alliance

A game-changing twist happened in episode 9 when Mark joins forces with Ms. Cobel, an essential part of Lumon. But what is their mission? It’s simply to save Gemma from the company’s grip. The team-up was unexpected and had another unpredictable turn since Ms. Cobel is known for implementing strict control of Lumon. She might have a hidden agenda, but given her intel on the blood-sucking organization, she might be the key to dismantling the system from its core.

For Mark, exposing Lumon is not just his aim but deeply personal as he has been forced to believe that his wife was dead all along, only for her to be trapped in severance for years. However, this mission will not be as easy as it seems because he cannot truly trust Ms. Cobel. Only time will tell.

2. Dylan’s resignation

Dylan has been nothing but given his loyalty and almost sold his soul for Macrodata Refinement. But did Lumon give the same energy back? Yes, you guessed it right, but they did not! In fact, they went as far as to dangle the idea of love in front of Dylan’s innie. They gave him a shot at romance but with none other than his outie’s wife (shocker!). Ans poor little Dylan felt like he had something to hold onto.

That all came crashing down in episode 9 when Gretchen rejected his proposal. The heartbreak hit him so hard that he resigned from his post. But we all know walking away from Lumon takes a little more than that. Moreover, his outie might not even approve of the resignation, keeping Dylan trapped in the severed world. His next move can essentially change everything. Will he fight back, or will heartbreak push him deeper into Lumon’s control?

3. Ms. Cobel’s intentions

Let’s come back to Ms. Cobel and discuss her role in detail. What exactly is she looking for? She has been extremely loyal to the company throughout, but they thank her with a DEMOTION. It felt like a slap in the face for someone who’s dedicated her life to the cause. Cobel is the type of person who makes it everyone’s problem when she is annoyed.

Could this push her to turn against Lumon for good? Or is she just biding her time, waiting for the perfect moment to strike? With her incredibly detailed inside knowledge about the company, she could be lethal, shifting the entire power upcoming in the finale.

4. A Twilight Zone twist?

Episode 9 didn’t just hint at The Twilight Zone; it straight-up referenced one of its most unsettling episodes, The After Hours. This 1960 classic tells the eerie story of Marsha White, a woman who goes to a department store but is suddenly trapped in a surreal nightmare. She soon realizes that, along with the store’s workers, she is actually a mannequin who was granted a temporary life. But the twist is that she had stayed out in the real world for so long that she forgot her true nature.

Wondering where is the parallel? Gemma, already trapped on Lumon’s testing floor, is in a situation eerily similar to Marsha’s: isolated, manipulated, and possibly on borrowed time. Meanwhile, Helly is dangerously close to uncovering something Lumon clearly wants buried. If The After Hours is a clue, one of them might face the terrifying realization that their freedom was never real in the first place.

This could mean that Severance Season 2 will have a much more brutal finale than expected. Lumon’s endgame might be way more sinister, and we might just have seen the tip of the iceberg.

5. Can Ms. Cobel be trusted?

Ms. Cobel might have joined hands with Mark for now. But let’s be real, does she actually want to help him? She’s the mastermind behind the severance procedure, so turning her back on Lumon completely feels almost too good to be true. While she seems determined to help Mark track down Gemma, there’s no way she’s doing this out of pure goodwill.

Should we so easily believe that she is willing to destroy everything she created just to save Gemma? Or does she have her own secret agenda? Knowing Cobel, she’s always ten steps ahead, and whatever her next move is, it’s bound to be a game-changer.

6. What Exactly Is Cold Harbor?

Out of all the mysterious things in Severance Season 2, Cold Harbour is probably the most mysterious one. What is it? Why does Lumon care so much about it? And, most importantly, what happens when it’s complete?

Thanks to Ms. Cobel, we now know one terrifying detail: if Mark’s innie finishes Cold Harbor, Gemma dies. However, the file has been stuck at 96% ever since Mark started reintegrating. This means that something is blocking the process, which could be the only thing keeping Gemma alive.

With the finale episode approaching at full force, all signs point to Cold Harbor being the key to some major collapse. Is it a way to erase severed employees permanently? A new level of mind control? Whatever the truth is, it’s not going to be pretty. Buckle up, Severance fans; things are about to get intense.

7. Is Irving really gone?

In episode 9 of Severance Season 2, Irving suddenly vanished and had all fans wondering about what more stunts Lumon is about to pull. He was sent off to an unknown location, but there’s no way that’s the last we’ll see of him. He had to let go of the idea of having a future with Burt even if he did not want to, but his story feels far from over. Just like Dylan, Irv might also be playing a key role in the final showdown. Maybe he’s coming back to help his MDR team, or something even darker remains to be seen.

8. Helly’s confrontation with Jame Eagan

Helly wanted answers, but her search took a dangerous turn indeed when Jame Eagan himself stepped out of the shadows to confront her. He sent chills down the spine when he said, “You tricked me. My Helly.” Jame’s anger likely stems from the Season 1 finale, when he unknowingly showed rare affection to her innie during the Overtime Contingency, but Helly does not know about it. Jame was showing emotions to someone he considers little more than a corporate tool, and he was not happy about it (clearly).

With Helly being the only MDR employee still trying to uncover the company’s dark secrets, she now faces the full wrath of Lumon’s most powerful figure. If she doesn’t act fast, Jame might ensure that her search for answers ends before it even truly begins.

9. Will Helly find Gemma?

Mark is racing against time to find his beloved Gemma but on the other hand, Helly hell-bent on exposing Lumon’s darkest secrets, could their stories collide in the finale? Helly’s trek toward the Exports Hall elevator puts her in the perfect position to stumble upon the truth about Gemma’s fate, well, if she gets there before Lumon shuts her down.

And let’s be real here: Helly is already public enemy number one for the Eagans. If she uncovers the twisted experiment keeping Gemma trapped, she won’t just be a problem; she’ll be the company’s worst nightmare.

10. Is Mr. Milchick about to flip the script?

Mr. Milchick has spent two seasons as Lumon’s no. 1 disciple, but cracks are starting to show. After enduring constant mistreatment from his higher-ups, he finally snapped back in episode 9 and finally faced security chief Mr. Drummond. And while he’s been ruthless in keeping the innies in line, there have been moments where he’s shown a little bit of empathy (the bar is that low).

If Milchick decides he’s had enough and turns against Lumon, things could get very interesting. A man who knows the system inside and out, teaming up with MDR? That’s the kind of plot twist that could finally bring the evil company down, and we will be here to witness it.
